Introduction 360 Modena 360 Challenge Reconstruction Karosserie

Modena Reconstruction

Carrozzeria takes pride in providing an exceptional reconstruction for the 360 Modena.

Upon arrival the car’s body is taken apart in a highly systematic and organized process. The parts are bagged, labeled, and placed in a separate section of our storage area. If the vehicle requires frame repairs Ferrari mechanical technicians remove the suspension, mechanical components, and engine, if necessary. The car is then ready for the frame bench.

Carrozzeria has two factory authorized frame benches used exclusively for the repair of the Modena. The fixtures have over fifty control points around the entire vehicle which hold the car firmly in its proper position. These are the same points used by the factory to construct the car. This check-point system allows Carrozzeria to cut off any portion of the car’s structure while holding the body where it belongs. New parts are then added in correct relationship to the existing chassis.

Ferrari’s dedication to the integrity and safety of the 360 Modena is paramount. Only a select few facilities, such as Carrozzeria, may purchase the structural components of this vehicle necessary for its proper repair. Our European factory trained and certified welding technicians Mig-weld the vehicle’s structure as the factory did, utilizing the same machinery and proprietary aluminum alloy materials.

Specific areas of these cars are bonded and riveted together. Carrozzeria uses only factory sanctioned aircraft bonding agents. We also have a unique riveting process which assures original strength while presenting correct factory appearance.

All sheet metal work is “metal straightened.” Utilizing their years of coach building experience, our technicians straighten the very thin aluminum panels, and file and sand them smooth. Carrozzeria prides itself in continuing this dying art.

The repair of these aluminum cars requires a contaminant free environment. The slightest introduction of steel and carbon related dust particles can cause future corrosion and weakening of the body and structure. This is so important that all 360 Modenas are repaired in a curtained-off area. Carrozzeria also invested in all new tools (from hammers to the smallest of wrenches) used exclusively on the Modena to prevent cross contamination which can lead to contact corrosion. New coated hardware is used in the car’s assembly for the same consideration.

Aluminum cars have special paint requirements. Years of experience with aluminum cars has allowed our technicians to test the latest paints and materials available in the industry. After the bare metal is prepared by hand, aggressive etch primers are used to assure proper adhesion and corrosion resistance. This is followed by an etching filler primer which allows us to sand and give the smooth desirable finish that all Ferrari owners expect. Original equipment urethane paints are color matched and applied. All paint work is sanded and polished to give an undetectable repair.

Continuing the same high standard of detail and authenticity used throughout the repair process, Carrozzeria reassembles the car to its original beauty. All systems of each car are evaluated through the Ferrari computer to assure proper function. Finally, the interior and exterior of the automobile is detailed to its new delivery splendor. Throughout the 360 Modena’s reconstruction, Carrozzeria’s professional and talented technicians are sincerely dedicated to the final product and the customer.
